About Ping Hub
Ping Hub is a free web service that lets you share your real-time location with friends, family, and colleagues with just a single link—no account or app installation required.
Why We Built It
When meeting friends at a location or tracking companions on hikes, trips, or events, most apps demand sign-ups and friend requests. Ping Hub cuts through that friction. Create a group, send the link, and anyone who receives it joins instantly with just a nickname—everyone sees the same map.
How It Works
When you create a group, a shareable link is generated. While location sharing is turned on, your position is tracked automatically and updated on the shared map so others can see where you are; you can turn sharing off at any time from the toggle in the app bar. The map refreshes about every 20 seconds. Anyone who has the group link can join with any nickname—the link itself is the only access control, so share it only with people you trust. Each member's location stops being shown and is permanently removed 24 hours after their last update.
Technology
The map is powered by OpenStreetMap and Leaflet. Location data is processed on the Cloudflare global network (Workers and D1). A group is automatically deleted 30 days after its last activity—along with all location and participation records—and you can extend that period from the group page.
